Dragon-A-Day Online: Day 999: Not As Advertised, or Fragile Loyalties.

I bought a phone. I’m not thrilled with it. I’m probably going to take it back because the interface is annoying. That’s what I felt compelled to complain about, and here’s your unrelated dragon. Join us tomorrow where we celebrate 1,000 days of our very own dot-com:

03252014 - Not As Advertised. Or Fragile Loyalites.

And here is a rant that i wrote before realizing that I didn’t want to draw anything having to do with it:

As I write this, there are two cell phones within arm’s reach, and they’re both mine. My old phone, an LG Imprint that’s been staggering towards a mix of forced obsolescence and malfunction, and the phone I bought this evening, an LG Optimus F6. Neither of them were exactly bleeding edge technology when I got them, but after poking in circles at the F6, if I had to make a choice out of the two, I’d probably rather have the Imprint, if nothing else because it was easier to mess with the settings.

There seem to be a lot of things that I’d like to change but don’t have access to, like many of the various sounds and things on the Optimus, and for the life of me I can’t understand why I can only turn them on or off on such an intelligent phone. This is not to say that I had full control of effects and settings on the Imprint, but frankly, I wouldn’t have expected them.

Add to that the fact that since I’ve been able to choose what phone I had, I’ve always had an LG phone, working my way up through various levels of complexity, and you might see why I’m a bit disappointed. At this point I’m very seriously considering eating the two additional activation fees I’ll end up incurring in order to switch back to my old phone and then (eventually) picking up another. And after this (relatively) expensive, annoying experiment, I might have to jump ship to something less familiar but possibly more rewarding, though really I have no idea what that would be, considering my budget.
