I drew the tail in the middle of the page first and thought of stingrays, particularly the massive Roughtail Stingray that they have/had (it’s been awhile, I don’t know if it’s still living) at the NY Aquarium.
It’s an interesting body shape that probably bears some looking into further, but I was a little distracted (clearly) and not really thinking about how the body construction might actually work, or how to keep it looking dragony.
