Speedpaint Sunday 27

Like I’ve been saying, repeatedly and at at length, I need to spend more time doing this, especially acquainting myself with my brushes if I ever really want to be good at it. My work is disappointingly inconsistent, and that frustrates me to no end.

I want to blame my color choices for how tonight’s speedpaint came out, but towards the end, the background came out more interesting (and successful, IMHO) than the subject, because of the unexpected way that the brush seemed to interact with itself, possibly along with the brush settings, though that was only Opacity 80% and Flow 100%, so I’m not sure why it made that crazy ripple effect:

I did wrestle more than I wanted to while looking for acceptable colors to try and build shadows with ala that one speedpaint that I was so proud of two weeks ago, but I still haven’t been able to replicate that magical moment. It looks like I drew it and tried to fill it in in a lot of places, which is not the effect that I wanted to achieve; I could have just drawn it and been happier with the result.
