Various and sundry things kept me busy today, so I didn’t get to mess with brushes. I found myself picking up any old brush tonight and working with black and white with limited success (mostly because I wasn’t able to reliably create the same shade of grey) until I started working directly in shades of grey:
The eye is probably the best part of the whole thing, and I’m not thrilled with the eye ridge; it was supposed to have a hard highlight on it like it was a shiny surface, and I couldn’t pull it off for the life of me. I’m happy with the coloring of the beak though, and if I had had more time to play with the spikes at the back of the head, I’d probably have done something similar there, too.
