Dragon-A-Day Online: Day 168

I wanted to draw a long-tailed dragony creature climbing the surface of the page, like a gecko.

So, I went looking for pictures of them, and came across the adorable Flying Gecko (Ptychozoon Kuhli), specifically, the grey-and-black specimen at the bottom of the article.

Drawing heavily on the image for foot references, I came up with this:

Just as I was finishing it, I realized that the face was a little too similar to the Macejaw Dragon’s face for my liking, the hollows under the brow ridges that seemed so obvious in the front did not read as hollows in the profile. I tried to correct that, but I’m not entirely happy with the similarities.

I do like the rest of it, though.
