Dragon-A-Day Online: Day 394

Day 21:

We found a Threadshrike tangled in an abandoned spider’s web today. I have always had a soft spot for these tiny dragons, though I am well aware of their bloodthirstiness and cruel tendencies- One year, I tried to raise brightblossoms, and my garden was overrun by pixies. I am not as well-versed in faerie lore as I am in dragon lore, so I could not tell you what kind of pixies they were, only that they were small, about the length of my pinky finger, tending toward a greenish, chitinous appearance and of completely destructive bent.

However, I was able to coax some Threadshrikes to pay my gardens a visit, and a few days of high-pitched screaming (and another day or two of picking eviscerated corpses out of the shingles) later, the problem was solved, and the tiny dragons moved on.

The web was composed of strong, sticky strands, and Threadshrikes being flameless, the poor creature was stuck fast without much hope of escape, though little other danger, for the spinner was long gone… I freed it, but it became sulky and did not talk to either of us.
