Dragon-A-Day Online: Day 937: ‘Gator Around.

“…I’m on a good mixture, I do not want to waste it
I want to go gator around the warm beds of beginners, I’m really worked up …”
The National, “City Middle”

So I spent some time chasing the dragon, then decided to draw an eye for some reason. I started thinking about how others have depicted the draconic eye as opposed to how I do it, and I found myself rummaging through a folder of reptile images for reference. I got kind of caught up in the many varied textured of an alligator’s face and then this happened.

01222014 - Gator Around. For the most part, the alligator is smooth on its face; most of the scaly bits are on the neck and arms, the rest is scutes as far as I can tell. But there’s some interesting texturing on the face itself, and it seems to vary from species to species, if not on an individual basis.
