“Mantle, crust, ignite!”
–Dethklok, “Volcano”
So while trying to figure out what to do tonight, I came across this.
I then realized that while I don’t really care about the movie (though the eruptions looked pretty cool) I hadn’t done a catastrophic Volcanic Eruption dragon, so I decided I’d do that.
I wrestled with it for awhile, thinking that it should be massive and bulky, as it’s kin to the Earthquake Dragon and all, but that wasn’t working. I did decide that the dragon should be mostly rock with space for lava, but not as hollow as the Wildfire Dragon, so I opted for something in between:
I plan on revisiting it and giving it a serpentine silhouette- the term “rivers of lava” came to mind while working. Also, it’s supposed to be obsidian on top and pumice beneath, but as soon as I decided that, I realized that I don’t know how to draw rocks, or at least not two kinds of rocks sitting next to each other…
No, I just don’t really know how to draw rocks.
I like the snout & the dripping a lot. I’m not a fan of elemental dragons– or elemental much of anything– but lava-venom is a cool look.
Thanks. I tweaked it around a bit, I kind of felt it was too wormy-looking.
And I’m kind of a fan of elemental everything. Always have been. :)
