Dragon-A-Day Online: Day 969: Turtledove.

So like I mentioned, Sloth seemed too birdlike. I did a bit of looking at pictures and tried to isolate those aspects of the head shape, which is kind of squarey versus the round-shape-with-a-beak that a typical bird’s head has.

I actually drew this hastily when I realized I needed it to (ostensibly) support my argument, as opposed to plucking images off the Net.

I actually drew this hastily (after the actual sketch for tonight) when I realized I needed it to (ostensibly) support my argument, as opposed to plucking images off the Net.

Anyhow, I’m still wrestling with it, because I think that my trying to put the weary expression on him makes him look like some sort of parrot, which annoys me to no end.

I have the nagging feeling that it’s the brow ridges; they look a little like stylized feathery brows as opposed to knobbly scaly ones, but I like them. Maybe I should just go full turtle and add on to that as opposed to trying to reconstruct the original head… I’m going to give in to this vice and call it a night for now, though.
