Building on last night’s eye-and-scale adventures, I did this:
Lizard scales are more like a mosaic than anything else- they come in an odd assortment of sizes and shapes, and seem to just be the right fit for their location. This is a useful thing to know and understand, but it’s kind of a pain to have to draw it, at least if you want to draw it quickly.
I didn’t get very far with shadows and such because I got hung up on the scales, then got stuck as to what to do with them, kind of like what happened last Friday. It also probably would have been a good idea to fully think out where the layers of flesh “stacked” (like in the general area of the eye), and at least put drop shadows in/around there.
On the whole, it’s still a good piece, though.
