Dragon–A-Day Online: Day 5

It was a strangely warm, even hot day today here in Brooklyn, and at the end of it, my brain was feeling a bit fried, and the rest of me felt a bit burnt out.

Fortunately, I have a few dragons in my draconity queue for just such an emergency. I present to you Lunarya‘s Desert Stalker dragon, which she was kind enough to provide a reference for (so I didn’t have to make anything up):

Creature design is © Lunarya. Artwork by Phillippe St. Gerard.

She writes:

Description: Desert Stalker. Found in the desert, these swift runner’s [sic] hunt in packs to bring down large prey. Though they have wings, they do not fly often, but usually display their wings to scare away bigger predators or to attract a mate. They are uninterested in humans, unless they are really hungry[.]

I took a few liberties with this. First of all, I added nostrils and a hole in the ear. I may have made the neck too short, but that wasn’t intentional. I also made the middle toe longer than the other two, but I’m pretty sure tha was supposed to be the case. I also ended up changing the shape of some of the plates on the back, and I may have made the wings too small, though they look proprotional to me (even if they ran off the edge of the page).

The wings on Lunarya’s specimen showed a lot of damage; perhaps there is a wingshredder infestation out in the desert.

Now if you’ll excuse me, I’m going for a walk in the woods while my brain cools.

EDIT: I really am fried tonight- I forgot to insert the image in the post. I don’t know how this newfangled Internet technology works, but I’m sure that the RSS feed or whathaveyou will pick up the post sans-image, while I scan it  and add it in. Sigh.
